Whatever your age – adult, teenager or child – there is a course for you.
Adults & teenagers classes :
Classes are run throughout the year, during the week or on Saturday mornings.
All our courses focus on conversational French with an emphasis on active student participation. For this reason, the number of students is limited to between 5 and 15 in every class.
Our teachers are fully qualified to teach French as a foreign language, using modern, student centered teaching methods. Among these methods, we are using the three volumes of the French method Connexions (Didier FLE).
We have recently upgraded our teaching programme for adults and have now introduced the 24 hour Comprehensive Intensive Course.
This course is done over a period of three weeks. Lessons are held from Monday to Thursday either in the mornings (from 10.00am to 12.00pm), in the afternoons (from 2.00pm to 4.00pm) or in the evenings (from 5.00pm to 7.00pm).
At each 24 hour stage, the student will be eligible to sit for an Internal Examination corresponding to the completed stage. After which the student will obtain an Alliance Française Language Certificate, with a course description at the back specifying all the skills they have acquired during the course.
This new programme allows the learner to achieve more within a short space of time. In just 4 months a consistent, committed learner will be able to communicate effectively.
The teaching at Alliance Française is enhanced by up-to-date technical tools, including videos, cassette tapes and DVDs. We also have a well stocked book library.
The Alliance Française also offers, with flexible schedules, tailored language sessions for specific requirements to groups, companies and organisations, as well as private tutoring.
High School Students :
For our adolescents, those who are attending High School, we have specially designed language programmes for Form 1 to ‘A’ Level. These classes are for those who want to consolidate the material they are learning at school whose aim is to perfect their French language skills and also for those who wish to study French entirely with the Alliance Française taking it up from the complete beginners’ stage.
The teaching guide used for the High School Students is Gramm’ Ados ; a textbook designed specifically for teenagers whose popularity with the adolescents stems from its progressive and inductive approach which gives autonomy to the young learner.
Classes for teenagers are held throughout the year during the 4 semesters we have at the Alliance Française with special French language crash courses which are run during their school holidays. This is done so that the students always have constant touch with the language allowing the effective grasp of the language.
Children :
As learning a foreign language is child’s play, improving children’s learning skills & opening up a new world for them, the Alliance Française de Bulawayo has designed a new programme specifically for children : the Children’s French Language Course.
This is basically an initiation to the French language for the young ones and lessons are held throughout the year during the 4 semesters that we have at the Alliance. Classes for children are divided according to the different age groups.
Our Interactive Teaching Guide we use, Petit Pont (Didier), alongside with the audio visual material which accompanies this guide makes the children’s classes very exciting, fun and well worth the while.
